Tennessee up 11-4 with 6:26 left in the 1st. Although I recall Dayton upsetting Louisville in the tourney a few years ago, I'm guessing Louisville doesn't want to see Tennessee. Tennessee matches up quite well I think. A lot of length to bother Hines-Allen in the paint, but then big guards like DeShields that can make it tough for Durr to get clean looks off from 3.

Dayton, like too many teams, is trying to play a MTM without the necessary athleticism.

Zone zone zone!

Dayton is looking like a lot of teams so far that lose the game in the 1st quarter. Tenn has them playing at a pace that is beyond their ability to match.

Dayton looks horrible. The A10 has been really down this year.

9 points in the entire first quarter? It's not like Tennessee is a defensive juggernaut.

Doris trying her best to hype Dayton. And of course her lap dog O'Brien picks up the theme and runs amok with it.

Dayton only down 3 now. Penn State transfer Alex Harris has 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 block. Always helpful to get the BCS post transfers because outside the power 5 its not easy to recruit impact bigs out of high school.

They are playing zone now, and hitting some threes. Dayton down 2 with the ball, 1 minute left in the half.

29 all at the half. Russell struggling. Dayton's center has 10 boards at the half and has made 3-5 shots. Russell is 1-3 shooting for 3 points and 5 boards.

Nunn is playing better, 4-7 for 8 points, 6 boards. Maybe she should see more time in the 2nd half

So Tennessee decides scoring is so passe. Might as well let Dayton have a turn.

Now Tenn matches Dayton's 1st Q 9 pt output, while Dayton matches Tennessee's 20, and we're all tied up at 29 at the half.

Looks like Dayton's not needing any hype. It's 29-29 at the half

Watching Mercedes Russell play really hurts my eyes. She is so passive, doesnt even try on defense, doesnt call for the ball, hangs out on perimeter when she is supposed to rebound. I guess she knows that she will play anyway. Nared is invisible as well.

Nice matador defense with a bailout foul thrown in for good measure by Middleton on that last Dayton possession.

Prepare for a little bit of push back on your accurate observation!

I have little to no knowledge of basketball strategy but it's been clear to me for 2 years that Tenn has a lot of success against MTM defenses and struggles against a zone and yet coach after coach tries to play man against the LV's. What the hell?

I will gladly take it back if she keeps doing what she did in the opening minutes of 2nd half.

Well, i dont agree with that generally (unless it was sarcasm). She can be a really good player. When she wants. She is the one who would benefit from having any competition from other post players. Too often, she just doesnt seem to even want to try.

Dayton has returned to it's first quarter shooting where they can't make anything. Confused

Deshields yelling at her teammate after committing that foul and her teammate rolling her eyes. Great chemistry
