Thanks for the update. That's helpful.

I'm wondering about Dos Santos. I would have thought Chicago would sign her to something. On the other hand, don't know how good her English is? Maybe she relied on Erika to translate?

Her English isn't great but I don't think that's a factor. I'll try to find out more on her status tonight.

Sounding like she will be back. But Stocks isn't nearly as willing to divulge information as Pokey was.

would it actually be an upgrade if she did? I have my doubts.

Nah. Drafting someone like Peterson (if she's still there in the 2nd round) would be though.

I'm not sure it would be an upgrade, but its not like Quinn has done much the past couple of seasons. The storm got Quinn for essentially nothing so they may not feel a strong attachment to her.

Nayo Raincock E had some impressive defense vs Maya & other teams in Rio for team Canada.I was watching team Canada and thinking a few wnba could use her as blue collar player.

so three core players are sitting out this season: Wright, Bonner & McCoughtry. Realistically, we're just waiting on Griner & Bone. I'd say McCarville isn't playing this season & no one wants to overpay for Monica Wright.

There are also a couple of American reserved players who played last season who haven't resigned with their teams

Hampton in Minnesota

and Colson, Baugh and Peters in SA

and a bunch of European reserved players who might be missing part are all of the season because of Euro-basket

Cruz, Dabovic, Dubljevic, Petrovic, Xargay, and one Aussie in Bishop

but yeah Griner and Bone to a lesser extent are the only major players still yet to sign.

Sad to see gatling go. With her new endorsement in ATL i thought she was going to make it by.

I'm surprised that Bulgak continues to not make it.

I KNEW Chelsea Hopkins was going to get cut from LA. I absolutely KNEW IT. The writing was on the wall. Her first 2 preseason games she played over 10 minutes a game and DID NOT MISS ONE SHOT. So you'd think "Hey, she's doing good. She's showing she can play. Probably has a shot at making the team" NOT!!! So what do they do? Next game, instead of letting her show people what more she can do, they bump her down to FOUR MINUTES. I was not surprised at all.

You CAN NOT "play your way" onto a WNBA team. It doesn't matter what you do in camp. Not even a little. These coaches and GM's know who they want on their team before camp even starts. They pick extra players just to fill out the camp. Makes it look good. But Chelsea was too good out there in the first 2 games. I'm sure that was a problem. I mean, we can't play her that much anymore or people will see she's actually good; she's not part of our plan. But some rookie with an awkward jump shot and spotty handles, it doesn't matter what she does. She's on the team. Hopkins is WAY better than Wiese, in every aspect of the game. Or Riquna, who will maybe give you four 30 point nights a season, hidden in a plethora of games where she shoots 4 for 20 in most of the other ones. But she's established. Chelsea is not. I don't know why teams want bad players "established", but they do.

And on another team, Seattle, there's Alexis Peterson who shot 4-17, 5 assists and 8 turnovers. But it didn't matter what she did in camp. She had the job. Oh but I'm sure she "looked good in practice". Bull-shit.

This is why I'm really not mad, my girl, Prahalis did not get picked up for camp. There was no chance she was making any team. If Seattle picked her up and in 2 preseason games she shot 7 of 9 (if she shot 17 shots all you would call her a ball hog), and had 12 assists and 4 turnovers, she would STILL get cut and Peterson would make the team. This is why the WNBA is a farce. "Damn the skill and talent. We don't care how good you look. We know better. We want our vets and our rookies, no matter how good you look." You really think Sammy didn't look better than Jasmine Thomas or Matee Ajavon in Dream camp a few years ago? Sure.... She had a great camp and a good preseason game, despite not playing her much (surprise, surprise) and was promptly cut.

This is why the WNBA is a complete farce. You guys think you are watching the "best talent". Well, you aren't. Your watching what some stupid all-high-and-mighty GM's who would rather keep their precious "established vets" or try some marginal rookies than actually really looking at skilled players. It's all a political game. If you are part of the "establishment" you are probably going to get in, if not, no matter how good you are, you got no chance.

My 2 cents.

Yeah, I remember a few years back the Lynx had a rookie who struggled in the preseason, shooting 33% from the floor ( 6/18 ), 25% from three ( 1/4 ), with 10 turnovers in two games. Another player at the same position shot 58% ( 7/12 ) from the floor in those same two games.

Of course when the season came the rookie started every game while the other player barely got off the bench...

So I didn't even have to click the links and I knew that was Maya Moore. Because I knew whoever responded would give one example that is the exception and that supposedly refutes my entire point Rolling Eyes . My point is how you do and how you look in camp/preseason does not determine who makes rosters. Your point is invalid anyway because Charde made the team; besides the fact that Maya was the number 1 pick, of course she's playing. And I'm sure Reeve already decided those two were on the team before camp started. So try better next time.
