A weird conference tourney where the first and quarterfinal rounds were Thursday and Friday then all teams get two days off before Monday's semifinals.

#1 Gonzaga takes on San Fran. Teams split during regular season

#2 BYU takes on St Mary's. Teams split during regular season

This year it appears likely only the tourney champ will represent the conference in the Dance

Is that an accommodation to BYU?

BYU is not the only 'religious' school in that league, so it may be by mutual agreement. I actually think it's a good idea. Three games in three days just makes for ugly games. And IMO increases chance of injury. Give them a couple days off inbetween. Much better.

But it's the only school that won't play on Sundays, I think.

Good. I'm okay with anyone who beats BYU.

At the beginning of the year, I thought St. Mary's was going to be good this year. First game of the year, I remember they were leading California for a good portion of that game. But then they just kind of disappeared. Guess they're peaking at the right time...maybe.

BYU refuses to play on Sunday so the whole tourney has to just stop in its tracks....ridiculous.....they should move the tourney to wed-sat...or tell BYU to take a hike...it costs a lot of money for normal folk to stay and extra day in Vegas....BYU is like 400 miles away so they can conceivably come and go...

I don't know why they don't do wed-sat. That makes more
Sense.

Gonzaga looks dangerous.

I wonder if the committee can find some way to let them host the Stanford pod Twisted Evil

After trailing by 25 in the first half, Saint Mary's has cut it to 11 with 4 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter

They got it down to nine, but now it's back to 18 with 6:20 to go.

Arena availability? Vegas hosts two or three conferences, if I recall correctly, and I think they might host both men and women. That's a lot of basketball to squeeze into a couple of arenas.

Zags seem to own this conference. 7 in a row, is that true?

Zags haven't won the conference tourney in Fortiers tenure but they have won the regular season during that time.

I guess I'm just so used to seeing them in the NCAA.

Oh, they've made the NCAA during this time, just not as the AQ

I think the Zags and Stanford have a "relationship"....we play each other every year and Elle Tinkle is the little sister of a former Stanford player...of course, we finally beat them this year...of course McPhee is the niece/dtr/something of a former men's Zag player in the time of John Stockton...and sadly, two top players from the Spokane area are going to Stanford....but that's okay...our recruiting class is a good one...

so hey, Gonzaga would probably love to host...

Zags played very well in my estimation....Jill had 37 points against St Marys....just a tremendous talent coming from a tiny little 100 student HS in Montana....

the atmosphere in Las Vegas for the LadyZags is pretty awesome, when you consider Spokane is 1100 miles by road to Las Vegas....yet thousands come down to root on the boys and girls teams.....its great for the players and its fun for we fans....Zag fans pretty much dominate the arena, as well as the hotel...
