Renee Montgomery went back home to deal with pertussis.
Damn, why don't you people vaccine kids over there?

There's currently an anti-vaccine movement that claims MMR (mumps, measles, rubella) vaccines can lead to autism. However, Montgomery is probably too old to be affected and I'm not sure if it applies to whooping cough. More likely that Renee was vaccinated as a child, but needed a booster. A lot of adults aren't aware that they need boosters for various illnesses. I was recently required to get an MMR booster for a volunteer job working with kids, so I'm now very conscious of the problem.

I know someone who has worked with autistic kids and their families for the past 25 years, and he swears there is a direct correlation between the vaccines and the onset of autism. I also saw this with one of my nephews. Now it's possible that autism just isn't visible until the same age that they give them the vaccines. I don't think anything is proven, but there are European studies suggesting the correlation. But, to put another twist on it, my friend also thinks part of the problem isn't so much the vaccines themselves but how they are administered - in one huge lump sum, so he suggests that parents spread them out over time instead which he says gives the kids' bodies time to deal with each one. It's hard because most medical people say it's all hooey and want to give it all at once because it's easier for them to do it that way.

And if you had ever seen firsthand a perfectly normal, bright healthy child bouncing around with great energy who turned into a seizure ridden, mentally challenged individual with limited mobility within 2 weeks of getting one of those humongous vaccines, you would rightfully wonder what is myth and what is truth.

Anyway I know it's OT, but don't believe everything you read - one way or the other.

Mo and Jonquel can't play at the same time, so there should probably be more players on the graphic.

It was mildly unexpected, but it turns out that Jonquel Jones has just been really unstoppable. In their copycat league, I wonder if this means that all the teams will draft a true center next season after the Charde Houston/Mo Currie takeover of the league caused everyone to look for versatile forwards for a few seasons. This season, half of the teams drafted really poorly and there were a lot of midseason adjustments. I thought that Thomas/Howard was going to be the best foreigner combination, but it did not quite work out that way even though they were the best of the rest. Park Ji-Su did not start the season playing, which could have changed the picture, but the other five teams just did a good job of beating up on each other all season long.

Does anyone know if Stricklen is still with Fenerbahce? I know CP is with them and played in the Euroleague game yesterday but I thought maybe Strick wasn't there because of the limit on foreign players. However, I noted some team pics from today (I think) and didn't see her. Maybe it's just bc they are on a road trip for their game on Friday...or I'm just paranoid.... Razz Laughing Any ideas?

All the Game 2s are today, by the way, and live on FIBA's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtInrnU3QbWqFGsdKT1GZtg

Prague-Nadezhda and Bourges-Kursk are both midway through already.

Schio is finding out that playing Zone against DT and UMMC is not a smart idea Laughing

Talk about competing to the very end. Facing elimination and trailing by 12 with 0.7 seconds left, the Bourges coach calls timeout to set-up a play.

DeSouza still has a little bit of gas in the tank. She is outplaying Candace Parker right now. Avenida up 20 against Parker, Lavender and the rest of Fenerbahce

Yep, DeSousa was looking good and so was Milovanovic. It looked like one of those days where Fener could not buy a basket for long stretches of time. I was happy to see they put up a fight in the second half. Whelp, everyone lives to play another day. Rematch on Wednesday!
