The benches for both teams have combined for 3 points.

UCLA Only has 1 FTA and in a grind it out game like this, you need some easy points.

There you go, Kornet gets fouled and makes both FT's. but then huge 3 by Pivec, OSU up 6 with 30+ secs left in the 3rd.

OSU 44, UCLA 38 after 3. Canada has 19 of UCLA's 38.

If UCLA is going to continue to shoot 7.6% from beyond the arc (which is what 1-13 pencils out to) and get out-rebounded by 15, they are not going to beat the #5 RPI team in the nation this evening. It's actually kind of a shock that the Bruins are currently within 6 points, given the above.

With 7:30 left in the game: if you're a UCLA Bruin and your name is not Jordin Canada, you're shooting 24.3% right now (9-37). The girl needs help!

The Bruins are hanging in this game on the basis of little more than hustle and grit. If they can get just a *little* hot, they could win this game. But it's been brick city for our Bruins.

Well, you aren't going to beat good teams shooting as poorly as the Bruins did. Canada just can't do it all.

UCLA took 24 more shots in this game than Oregon State, and lost by 10. Stupid.

Congrats to the Beavers. They played great defense, outboarded my Bruins by 19, and were the better team. Best of luck to OSU in the Pac-12 Tourney Finals, and in the NCAA Tournament!

Something odd about Scott Rueck's eyebrows in that post-game interview.

Cori Close is nice lady and a very, very decent human being. However, I think she'd do better as head coach of a mid-major or maybe even associate head coach of a major the way she was at FSU. I do think UCLA needs some sort of a staff shakeup. She's losing Korver and Kornet, which represented her outside threat along with Kennedy Burke. Corsaro will make her debut and unless Chantel Horvat turns out to be a sharpshooter, she's recruited another class of combo forwards without a shot. In other words, needs were not met in recruiting.
As for Ashley Hearn, she would do better to transfer. As an AA, I don't think she's been treated well and her replacements have already been lined up in the next class.

For those who didn't see it, here's Jordin Canada talking about Kari Korver, in the wake of the Bruins' elimination from the Pac-12 tournament:

I imagine that hearing ones players talk about each other (and care for each other) this way has gotta be pretty much the ultimate dream of any coach, in any sport. It certainly makes me very proud to support this team.
