Mike Francesa has been NYC's top radio sports commentator for decades.

Quote:
Mike Francesa says it would be "impossible" for a woman to coach a men's professional sports team.

When he was reminded this week that former WNBA star Becky Hammon is an assistant coach on Gregg Popovich's staff in San Antonio, Francesa argued with a caller that she'll never advance any further in her coaching career because a woman could never command the respect or manage a team like a man does.

"No shot," Francesa said. "The odds on that are a million to one."

Not even the great Pat Summit, who likely rolled over in her grave as he uttered his bile, could be a successful NBA coach, according to Francesa. "She would have said ‘I don't belong there,’” he said.

He, of course, gets reamed by lesser lights.

Mike Francesa should have retired a long time ago

Says more about Francesa's mentality than anything. He's a yammering meathead who's paid to yammer.

10 more months....

He's odd...hes close with Geno and had a lot of respect for Pat...but Post Imus he's really dimmed on the sport...I get Imus was his mentor...but let it go man...I remember when he'd allow Huessler to give updates on the Sun and wear Sun shirts on the air...not in a long time.

This doesn't shock me sadly...agree sports world has passed him by...used to be a Mongo...but last 18 months yeah hes a grumpy old man who panders to grumpy old men. Sad...but not surprising at all

Mike Francesa has always been reactionary and disgusting. He's no worse than he ever was.

The popularity of Francesa is a reflection of the pathology of the sports world, especially the male sports world. He represents the worst of that world. Gregg Popovich, in hiring Becky Hammon to work with his team, represents the best of it.

I'm not surprised. He knows sports, but he doesn't know people. People like him are the reason Donald Trump is president.

Yesterday, Francesa offered his opinion on the opening round NCAA men's matchup between Maryland and Florida State, who of course are not playing each other...

In my view, his knowledge of sports has always been overrated.

From that link : "Francesa won’t be able to redeem himself in next year’s tournament since the radio host will be signing off WFAN on Dec. 15."

Not a moment too soon.

Adam Silver says there definitely will be a female head coach in the NBA:
