As the state of Texas considers a bathroom bill that would ban transgender people from using the public bathrooms in which they feel most comfortable, the NFL has issued a reminder that such a law could affect future Super Bowls in the state.

The warning is a serious one. The NFL moved the 1993 Super Bowl from Arizona in 1990 when the state had not passed a law recognizing the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King as a holiday and threatened to do so in 2014, when the state was considering a bill that would allow business owners to deny services to gay people for religious reasons.

The NFL is in danger of implosion. I don't think this would be a good time to isolate another fraction of their fan base. Roger Goodell is tone deaf. Instead of playing politics, he should be trying to stop the bleeding with regards to its dwindling fanbase.

In an unrelated topic pertaining to the NFL, there is good reason why the LA teams left town 20+ years ago; their fanbase is anemic. Three teams in town is never going to work. Plus that means lost viewership in the markets that just lost their team.

If I didn't know better I would think Goodell is actively trying to destroy the league.

There are only 2 NFL teams in LA---Rams and Chargers. The fans are there if they are treated well and the teams win.

The Rams left for St. Louis because that's where Georgia Frontierre wanted them. Her excuse was no one was buying the gear---of course she failed to mention that very little gear was available at the stadium on gameday and that which was was priced higher than gear from opposing teams.

The Chargers had more popularity in LA the last couple years that the Rams did.

Again, the fan bases are there, it's just the fans are fair-weather twits who go to be seen and only when the teams win. It's all on how ownership runs things.
