I wonder if Imani talked to Jackson-Jones or Presley on the other team about how she wishes they would raise WNBA salaries so they didn't have to go overseas anymore....oh wait.... Embarassed

Woa! Someone actually understood the points I was trying to make? I got blocked by someone for that conversation and I wasn't disrespectful nor was what I was saying out of line. Where were you Andrew? It was lonely arguing against like 5 people by myself. Lol

Well, I don't have a personal Twitter account and it seemed like a misuse of the one that I use for one of the Duke fansites.

I can't claim to know about the situation with every overseas player, but I know how tough it is for a lot of them. So many ask themselves every year whether it's time to give up the dream or whether playing and possibly making a little more money than they could in any other profession is worth all of the time away from friends and family. For a lot of them, the team missing a paycheck, which happens way too often in many countries, means no money to send back to take care of family. WNBA pay may not be what people expect when they hear the term professional athlete in America, but the check always cashes. Also, whether it is safety issues or the Zika virus, I find it weird that people don't seem to express sympathy for the locals who have to live with those problems and can't leave for another country easily.

It looks like a good landing spot for Sammy. There are a lot of interesting, if not good point guards in that league, like Medgyessy, who she faced last game who has been a bit of a late bloomer.

Wnba website is now saying that DRob is with Mersin and KMac with Yakin Dogu in Turkey. Anybody who follows basketball in Turkey know if this is actually happening over there?

Yes, DRob is playing. Not the best quality, but here's the Mersin game on January 4th:

It looks like McBride signed on January 6th, but she did not play in the January 7th game. She probably needs practice time with the team before she plays.

This stage finishes on Saturday. The playoff between 8th and 9th for the last quarterfinal spot will be on Tuesday and Thursday. The All Star Game is after that then they take a two week break for New Year's before starting the quarterfinals.

I am unclear on this situation. I thought it might be a minor injury followed by the team realizing that their season was going to be over no matter what happened.

This is what the Chicago Sky website reports, so I'm looking for an interpretation on when she starts. I'm curious on how she does.

Delle Donne will play for Shanxi in China for the second half of the WCBA season.

WNBA team confused about overseas play? Impossible! Based on Chinese League news, I think the plan was for her to start during the quarterfinals. Of course, with Shanxi's struggles even with Loyd and not winning with Young filling in, they are almost certainly going to be in that playoff on Tuesday and Thursday. I wonder if EDD will be there by then, because I think that they will struggle with Langhorne's team if she is not, which would negate the purpose of her signing at all if they get eliminated. With no Maya to swoop in and save the day this time, I think Shanxi may just go ahead and do what all the other teams are doing for next season instead of trying to be different.

Gotcha!

EDD in China? It'll definitely be interesting to see how this plays out in the 2nd half!

She shot poorly last game and didn't quite have the same swagger she usually has out there. She'll get back in the swing of things soon though. Just her first game.

According to the official site, Charles played two games in the third round, didn't travel to the next one (a loss) due to an illness, played in the one after that (a win). They and Heilonjiang were each 3-1 and facing each other the next two games. So having her not play and having no mention at all of "foreign aid" is strange. It was at the exact same time that Shanxi tried to force Jewell Loyd to play on a bad ankle and then subsequently fired Tom Maher. It all makes me think there was a falling out between her and the team well before they had been eliminated from the playoffs. Her not playing definitely changed their fortunes.
I am also very curious to see whether they will play Delle Donne. They only played each their twice and split with both Jewell and Crystal having by excellent games. Heilongjiang is playing well and Shanxi horribly.

Sammy's team in Miskolc, Hungary just signed Tierra Ruffin-Pratt. I know I'm probably the only one who cares lol. But at least she'll have some help on this team.

Ah, Shades wanting to watch Zahui B. There are actually a bunch of other games being streamed live this afternoon -- including a couple right now. There may be an easier way though the FIBA site, but I just go to Youtube and search on FIBA Women. Unfortunately, the "Today" filter doesn't work, so the best you can do is use "This week" and then scroll down until you see a string of games for January 18th. Either that or filter on "Live" to see what is playing at the moment. If you can't watch it live, the games are usually left up as archives for awhile. Usually, but not always.

Yes, DRob is playing. Not the best quality, but here's the Mersin game on January 4th:

It looks like McBride signed on January 6th, but she did not play in the January 7th game. She probably needs practice time with the team before she plays.

DRob took over for Tiffany Hayes and seems to be playing that same role of a slashing 2. She is being totally misused by the coach. In the one game I saw, their PG was not anything near what I've seen DRob do.

Interesting observation for those who want DRob and MoJeff to play together for SAS. If DRob were to serve as the SG, a slashing 2 is exactly what she would be since there's not much range to her shot. That suggests SAS would be better off using MoJeff (a good 3pt shooter) at 2 and DRob at 1. Of course, they can always swap positions on the defensive end since DRob is bigger.
