So is Kelly Krauskopf still calling the shots GM wise, or will Chatman take over some of that? |
Love the hire by Indiana!!!!. I think Krauskopf will continue to be GM. Now if we can stay healthy and get bigger inside, I think we will be okay.

Well, let's see. Krauskopf is one of the top GM's, and Chatman's just lucky to have a job. I think you can take it from there.

Mike Thibault also got the ax and was hired in time to coach the next season. Have their been others? |
Adubato kinda...he was fired mid season by the Libs...became mystics coach for the next season (2005) but as I said didn't finish the 04 season.

Didn't the same or something similar happen with "Wild Bill"?

Yeah, a little different, but the Liberty fired and then re-hired him in the same off-season.

During the search process, Krauskopf said, she interviewed other candidates on the phone, but when Chatman became available, she emerged as the top choice.
“The things that I’ve noticed about her teams and her players is they always get better,” Krauskopf said. “Their player development is really one of the best in the league.” |

The news conference was attended by Tamika Catchings, who retired from the Fever after 15 WNBA seasons, and Fever point guard Briann January. January said she and the new coach already have a good relationship from connections to USA Basketball. |

Anne Donovan. She got canned by Indiana after one season and coached the next year in Charlotte.
You might count Dan Hughes, who did well in Charlotte as an interim coach but was let go. He was hired by Cleveland in short order.
Fred Williams was fired by Atlanta after the 2013 season in plenty of time for Tulsa to hire him for 2014.
Jennifer Gillom got sacked after one lackluster season in Minnesota. The Sparks hired her right away and she had a similarly disappointing tenure for them.

good luck. If you like a coach who coaches no offense and makes no adjustments for opponents, you picked the right one.

One correction: Donovan wasn't really let go by the Fever. She was a technically an assistant for Fortner who served as interim coach while Fortner coached USA Basketball. She held the head coach position.

Catchings' number to be retired; Fever announce 2017 schedule
http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/2016/11/29/catchings-number-retired-fever-announce-2017-schedule/94608026/

The formal ceremony will take place June 24, when the WNBA champion Los Angeles Sparks meet the Fever at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Catchings retired at the end of last season after a 15-year career in the league.
The Catchings announcement was made in conjunction with release of the WNBA’s 2017 schedule. One sign of the post-Catchings era is that the Fever were excluded from any of the nine regular season games to be televised on ESPN or ESPN2. |

Granted Catch is no longer there but why dismisss the remaining players. Only 9 wnba games on espn and espn2. sad, the league won't get more fans that way!

Not sure, someone commented that sadly she didn't get up for a while and cried on the court. Am I thinking correctly that some folks are able to walk off the court after ACL tears?

Penny Taylor played on hers for a while. Probably not too long though.
Achonwa didn't seem to be feeling pain with hers. Walked around on it.
She didn't even cry.

looking at the video? Looks like she stepped on a foot. Could be anything. The way she acted though, well, sometimes you just know, and that wasn't good.

Indeed, no one mentioned a hypertension. That was just me looking at the video and offering my complete, total and utterly novice opinion. I just hope and pray that she's ok.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but the Fever has re-signed unrestricted free agent Erlana Larkins.
