Sounds like it's a real longshot. I don't think name recognition is enough to supplant the taboo of inexperiece. Seems that since the job at Maine has recently proven a solid stepping stone for the two previous head coaches the position should draw a bevy of qualified candidates.

Speaking of coaching openings, I'll be following the searches at St. Louis and Colorado State with a lot of interest. I know that both have a chance to land the perfect candidate - I just hope it's the Rams. It appears, however, that the Billikens are going to name their coach early next week and I'm pretty sure CSU isn't that far along.

A propos of coaching searches, in my netsurfing adventures, I discovered that Notre Dame is searching for an assistant coach for post players. They're paying between $3,500 and $6,500 per month.

when I came across that, I remember getting the impression it was an April Fools joke, but that was the heart of tax season, so it may just have been me misreading what I saw (or remembering wrong at this point)

Anyway, did a bit of a limited search at google and found this semi- related posting:

UWGB recruiting anyone?

Wonder what it pays?
