By the Hollinger method, these Lynx are the weakest champions in WNA history...

There's nothing weaker than not being a champion.

Lucky is putting it mildly. They were lucky in the fact that the referees gave the Lynx two games out of the five. That's the reason they won the championship.

I respect my eyes and brain (which are qualitative) more than I respect anything by Hollinger.

Those '99 Comets are too low, and imo, the best Comets team. That WNBA season was so stacked with talent and basketball IQ, and they went right through that with personal tragedy in their hearts and on their backs.

The Sparks rank as a middling championship team by the Hollinger method

The interesting thing about this season is that I thought it was one of the most competitive in league history, just by the eye test. I do think it's entirely possible that the 2014 Mercury are the best single-season team in league history, so this method obviously is pretty credible. But I also thought that Minnesota and LA were two very deep and talented teams with dominant point differentials in a very competitive season. This year no major stars voluntary sat out. Other than Piph, McBride and Glory Johnson, I can't think of any other significant double digit scorers who were injured for terribly long lengths of time. Besides SAS and the late season version of Dallas, any team could pull out a win on any given night. It was a season I enjoyed in a lot of ways, though I wish the post-Olympic portion had more meaning and that the Liberty were healthier through it. But in terms of finding games to watch where you couldn't be absolutely sure of the outcome prior to the tip, this was one of the best seasons for that, I'd say.

I wouldn't say it was the most competitive season. It was basically separated with three strong teams at the top, a bunch of good teams in the middle & some really bad teams at the bottom.

1. Los Angeles
2. Minnesota
3. New York

4. Chicago
5. Indiana
6. Atlanta
7. Phoenix
8. Seattle

9. Washington
10. Dallas
11. Connecticut

.
12. San Antonio

Hollinger ranks the 2017 Lynx as the 6th best champion in league history

The Storm score 132.8, a middling champ.
