* New Coach will probably come from within the pool of current and
former WNBA coaches

* Maybe some trades in the works

* Core team - January, Coleman, Johnson, Larkins, Kizer, Wheeler,
Mitchell, Achonwa, Peters, Lucas

That's a pretty big core. Are you seeing any trade targets?

Without Catchings the fever look like a lottery team.

Yes, Catchings will be missed. It's called rebuilding..... No worries, they will be fine.

I don't think IND will fall off that much next year. Other players will just step up.

Of course we don't know who the coach will be. Any chance they could woo Dunn back? She could scoop up more retirement presents. Smile

I agree with Shades. We won't be able to replace Tamika's leadership and what she brings off the court, but I think other players will continue to step up. Besides, it seems the Fever's fate is to have bad years of hanging around the bottom of the middle of the pack, or the top of the lower end of the pack, just missing out on the good lottery spots. No....rebuilding would be trading your franchise cornerstone players for young talent/Draft picks. If the fever plan is to keep the 6 best players on their roster, acquire one or two players to fill the void left by Catching and make a run at the playoffs, that's what I would call renovating, not rebuilding.

If some of you think the fever players are just gonna step in and replace Catchings offense, defense and toughness, you are delusional.Just look at indiana's record over the years with and without Catchings.Tamika had the respect of the officials. They gave her superstar treatment. She got to the free throw line at a high rate. The referees let Catchings get away excessive physical contact. In last years playoffs Catchings single handedly won game 2 against the liberty.Replacing Catchings will not be easy.

Catchings can not be replaced, period. She said that herself. I suggested a long time ago that they try to get Alshia Welch while Catch was there. She plays hard and had great leadership abilities while at South Carolina.

I think Mitchell starts at SG with Johnson off the bench. I think they keep Wheeler as well. Peters was a bust in Indiana, but clearly did well the season before in Minnesota. Achonwa has a high trade value, so I wonder if she'll end up someone else in 2017.

Not that this is a plan but next season might be a good season to suck. Add Wilson, Turner or K. Mitchell to a team with decent talent and you're back in business in 2018.

Wow! This will definitely be interesting! Congrats to her! Anyone think Coach Ross or Marynell will vie for the remaining open spots?

Marynell Meadors is 73 years old. She's probably done.

Besides San Antonio, what other WNBA team has a head coaching vacancy?

Takes care of that.

So is Kelly Krauskopf still calling the shots GM wise, or will Chatman take over some of that?

Not thrilled, but without Catchings it's going to be rebuild time in Indiana anyway. We'll see.

At least with Pokey, she can take a third round guard and make them serviceable.

I'm amazed that Dallas appear to be sticking with Fred, but the longer it goes the more likely it seems that that's the case.

Hmm didnt expect this. The Fever have always been a teamoffense kind of team. So i wonder how Pokey is going to approach this with no obvious star like Catchings/EDD/Fowles.

Mike Thibault also got the ax and was hired in time to coach the next season. Have their been others?
