Claressa Shields repeats her Gold Medal performance at middleweight. For the second straight Games she is the only US medalist in the Sweet Science.

I believe Shakur Stevenson got the silver medal in his weight class 52kg, first medal for the men since 2004.

So he did. Shields is the only US gold medalist in a sport we once dominated.

She may be back in 2020. I don't see much money for her as a pro, given the sparse competition at middlewight and up. She could legitimately fight for an alphabet world title and be the favorite in her professional debut. I like Christina Hammer, but Shields would bust her up hard.
