She underwent an MRI on Aug. 17, which showed a knee capsule sprain. She is listed as day-to-day.
Obviously I felt a huge relief, said Bird. The hardest part is waiting and not knowing. So, to finally get the thumbs-up from the doc that everything was okay was incredibly relieving and exciting, and obviously Im very happy. |

they should still sit her tomorrow and save her for the gold medal game. I doubt they'll need her vs. France.

Yay Sue! On another note, did anyone see how Coach K brought Cousins off the bench to send a message about defensive intensity? She has my WNBA MVP vote but Geno needs to not start Tina. She let Japan get so many easy buckets and you didn't see the change until she went out. Get buckets girl but get some stops too!

Maybe Geno should just sit Diana Taurasi for the rest of the Tournament then.

As annoying as Swin can be, I would rather listen to her than Annie. In fact, today I thought Swin wasn't too bad, so maybe improving.

I've researched basketball shoes this summer in an attempt to find a shoe that is good for someone in his mid 40s to play on. Needing a lot of cushion, I looked up a lot of shoes.
I saw Sue Bird was wearing the Kyrie 2 which is a great point guard shoe because of the low profile and the outstanding traction. Now it could be she has a customized version with better cushion. But if she had the retail version, that's a shoe with almost no cushion. She's a month from turning 36 and she's had a torn ACL. If she is wearing the retail version of the shoe that's a terrible shoe in terms of impact protection for the knees. Just a general point, given her injury in the last game.

For France, I think they have to put Yacoubou back in even if she has 2 fouls or the US is just going to run it out. (maybe we run it out anyway, but at least you gotta try something)

Although it sounds as if Geno could be staying on as coach for 2020, I like that Reeves has shown a lot of input with players etc, she is much more involved.

It's a surprise that France has actually distributed their minutes a little more evenly than the USA. No minutes for Stewart?
But I'm not worried. The wheels should eventually fall off for France. They've hit a lot of lucky shots.

France is playing good D while the US isn't, imo.
I expect typical halftime adjustments will present a different 2nd half.
