This trade really has me scratching my head. The '06 pick probably won't be a lottery choice either, but this really seems like Thibault is mortgaging the (short-term) future for quick results from a very enigmatic(to be polite) veteran post player.

i agree. he's either in denial that margo's not gonna be running the floor any time soon, or he's already resigned to it - in either case, he's shortchanged. he said something about how margo wil be able to "trigger" their offense. what, like, she pulls the trigger, then stands there and waits for everyone to get back to her end of the floor? why on earth didn't thibault invest in the future with feenstra?

Actually I think Conn got the better out of the deal but that depends on how Feenstra goes.

Margo is effective in certain situations. She can fill the lane, block shots, grab defensive rebounds, hit the high post jumper on the offensive end and she's a decent passer. The problem is when you try to force her outside of her game (as Dee Brown tried to do).

If the tempo is slow and/or you're playing zone, use Margo. If you're running or playing man, use Asjha.

The deal could help both teams. Moving Taj McWilliams-Franklin to pf, and using Margo at Taj's position makes Connecticut better at two positions. Although Feenstra will be given every chance to win the starting position at San Antonio, she will not have the impact of a veteran starter such as Dydek, IMO. I'm not sure Feenstra will be in the league in two seasons, let alone win a starting position.

If Margo helps Connecticut win the East again, the East championship and chance to compete for the WNBA Championship surpasses the value of Feenstra and a low 1st rd pick, even in 2006.

i'm having flashbacks to april 2004. i recall some folks on the board community voting thibault most likely to be the first coach fired. i guess we saw that he knew what he was doing with lindsay. i'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here, too.

All she has to do is rebound/block shots and outlet.

There's enough offense. She's there to protect when the other team gets by Lindsay!

Yep. The Sun's worst problem last year was post defense (that's how the Lynx beat them in the teams' first match).

Thibault may regret having made this trade four years from now, or he may not; he's certainly made his team better for now.

What is the difference between 6'8" and 7'2" besides a few inches. I think that the youngsters would help out more in the long run and the Sun want to win now so it is probably the proper move.
