I'm impressed Shades. You get the AJC before I do. My morning paper never seems to show up before 8. I was thinking about that one game rule. Its interesting that they now think Gray is the sub for Sancho. Sancho has been playing about 36 minutes a game. Seems like they could have been playing Gray some already.

Just heard from a friend attending today's Dream open practice (I wasn't able to go):

*** Breaking from open practice....Avery whorley Talbert is now with the Dream

That's a rather unfortunate misspelling of her name

Isn't there a rule that a replacement player has to be the one that leaves when the regular player returns, or does that only apply to injury replacements?
I suppose you can dance around that, but how are you going to determine that Warley is so superior to the player being cut with only a three game evaluation? It's Cooper, so I guess I should be surprised by nothing.

Well AWT would get some rebounds and probably nothing else. However, Holivay, Gray and Burdick have shown almost nothing so far. (I think Gray had a good quarter in one of the Indiana games.) It's really disappointing that Gray and Budick haven't shown more. Both seemed promising at times in their rookie season and both played well overseas. Cooper hardly played either one though until last night. Holivay gets more minutes, but I can't see why.

I'm of two minds about Sancho. Love to see her on the defensive end...and she drives me nuts offensively - she never sees a bad shot, just goes on hoisting from out of her range. I've long thought she is an offensive liability because of this. Unfortunately the Dream don't really have a viable replacement.

Agree. She's showing pretty much what she showed in college. But LaChina was going on about how she would become a great pro. I love LaChina but perhaps just a bit too optimistic.

I thought Gray's looked pretty decent when actually given a chance to play. That just hasn't been very often. Maybe she's been rubbish in practice or something, but Cooper's history makes me think it could just be his usual seemingly random nonsense.

I wouldn't be particularly surprised if Gray plays well in Sancho's absence and reminds Cooper that she's worth minutes, even once Sancho's back.

(that said, I haven't watched last night's massacre against the Lynx yet, but the boxscore doesn't look promising for Gray)

Not sure if Lachina said it or if Cooper said it directly, but it was mentioned that Cooper thinks that Sancho is the key to Atlanta's defense, especially from a defensive help standpoint. That was this year, maybe a week or two ago. It suggests he values Sancho enough beyond her questionable offense to keep her as a starter.

Richyyy, Gray didn't do much last night so tomorrow would be a great time for her to start. But I do wonder if somehow she is in Cooper's doghouse. As we know from last year, Cooper's doghouse has a revolving door.

She looked totally incompetent last night...but it was Minnesota.

Maybe Gray was pissed about the Schimmel trade and chirped up. She and Schimmel had great chemistry from what I saw last season.

Seemed pointless to bring her in. And she wasn't the best available post out there either.

I'd rather have Erika playing backup center than Hollivay. Maybe someday Rachael will be a good player, but she has a really long ways to go.

BTW - I was pretty impressed with Boyette the other night. She did goof by turning her back to Simmons on that inbound play, but looks like she might be pretty good with more experience.

Imani has been better than I expected, but I question her IQ. Maybe in time...

Nah, I won't beat on her. I already said she exceeded my expectations. T. Young took many years before I could say that about any particular game!
