Given our history with first round picks, trading one away might be the best thing we could do with it.

Wonder where Williams would have gone if this was her draft year?

Dream sign Carla Cortijo. Cool thing about her is she brings her own drum section. I liked what little we saw of her last year.
"Dream Inks Unrestricted Free Agent Carla Cortijo
Cortijo returns to Dream after joining team for final two games of 2015 season
ATLANTA (February 4, 2016) - The Atlanta Dream have announced the signing of unrestricted free agent Carla Cortijo. Per team policy, terms of the contracts are not disclosed.
"I have a list of things to accomplish and signing this contract with the Atlanta Dream goes under the accomplished category," Cortijo said. "I am just happy that this organization showed the interest since you don't see a lot of players from Puerto Rico go to the WNBA or NBA. Being the first woman born and raised in Puerto Rico to earn this opportunity is quite the honor. I can't tell you how grateful I am for this experience and thankful to Coach (Michael) Cooper and the coaching staff for believing in me."
Cortijo became the first Puerto Rican-born player in WNBA history after signing with the Dream late last season.
The 5-8 point guard appeared in the last two games of 2015 for Atlanta, highlighted by a 13-point effort on 5-of-8 shooting in the regular-season finale at Washington.
"We had always known that Carla was a talented player and were excited by what we saw her bring to the table late last season," Atlanta head coach Michael Cooper said. "We are excited to have her in for the start of training camp and I expect to see more good things from her moving forward."
Cortijo spent the beginning of the offseason playing for Gigantes de Carolina in Puerto Rico. She led Gigantes de Carolina to a 3-0 sweep over Mayaguez in the league's championship series and was named the most valuable player of the finals following a 36-point performance in the decisive game-three victory.
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cortijo moved to Houston, Texas, to attend Bellaire High School. She finished her prep career at Bellaire as one of the most decorated prep players in the state of Texas, and was named one of the 10 Naismith High School Player of the Year finalists, a Parade All-America third team choice and a Street & Smith's All-America honorable mention.
She went on to attend the University of Texas and was the starting point guard for the Longhorns during the majority of her tenure (2005-09).
The Dream will open the 2016 regular season at the San Antonio Stars on Saturday, May 14. Atlanta's home opener at Philips Arena will take place on Sunday, May 22 vs. the Chicago Sky in a 3 p.m. ET tip.
TRANSACTION: Atlanta Dream signs unrestricted free agent Carla Cortijo."

So the only players who aren't signed yet appear to be:
Matee Ajavon
Sydney Carter
Aneika Henry
Delisha Milton-Jones
So who stays and who goes? I suspect that two or even three of these players might end up elsewhere/out of the league.

Henry should be the priority.

Ajavon has been resigned I think.

With the addition of Cortijo and Hnery seeming like a no-brainer RFA to retain, if TCM is right about Ajevon then you have
Schimmel/Cortijo
Hayes/Ajevon
McCoughtry/Hodges
Gray/Burdfick
Henry/Williams
Dantas and Lyttle make it 12 when and if they show.
2 of the latter draft picks 11, 13 or 16 become place holders until they arrive.
Maybe not thrilling for the Atlanta fans but not bad.

I would expect Williams to start over Henry

Don't forget Atlanta owns the rights for Ariel Massengale as well.

Explain the Massengale situation? Was she suspended instead of cut?

She was out for the season with knee injury, so never came to camp. She was a 3rd round pick, so its hard to say whether she will be a factor or not.
We also have 3 picks draft picks: 11, 13 and 16. We've had pretty good luck with picks in that range - Hayes, Bentley, Burdick, Dantas and Gray were all taken 11-16 I think, so maybe we can get one useful player out of the 3 picks (kind of like buying multiple lottery tickets), assuming don't trade those picks. Or maybe we can pick a player that falls due to injury, or an overseas player that won't come this season.

She never inked a contract due to nagging injuries (knee IIRC). Hopefully, she gets it done soon. It'll be fun seeing her in camp.

Aneika Henry has reportedly signed with Connecticut. If Dantas is a no show this season, they'll only have Williams at center.

Reported on dot com. Of course, they've gotten the wrong team before. If its true, then it looks like the Dream didn't match. They seem to be putting a lot of faith in Williams/Dantas, two undersized centers.

How is it possible that the Dream lost both Henry AND the #4 pick to CT in exchange for Williams? I can't help but think there must have been a way to get some value for Henry. Who is making the decisions in ATL? I really hope they have something big in the works to bring some more talent to this team. If not, it's going to be a long season in ATL.

Connecticut getting a center and the #4 pick makes it seem like there is a big trade brewing.
Bone/#3 pick/#4 pick/Gray
#1 pick/KML
