Nevada senior Julia Shelbourn will miss the remainder of the season after knee surgery. Was a captain and starter for Nevada. http://www.rgj.com/story/sports/college/nevada/2015/11/21/women-shelbourn-undergo-season-ending-knee-surgery/76180732/

Nevada women’s basketball coach Jane Albright announced Friday that junior guard Ashlee Jones will undergo season-ending surgery on her right knee.

“We are devastated that this is our third season-ending injury so early into the year,” Albright said in a release. “We’ve lost three of our starters now and in them we’ve lost valuable on-court experience and leadership. Now our younger members will have opportunities to step up and give us great minutes.”

Jones sustained her injury during the first quarter of the Nov. 20 contest against Washington State in Honolulu. She will begin the rehab process following surgery in hopes of being ready for the 2016-17 season.

No. 16 Arizona State women's basketball fell 60-58 to No. 2 South Carolina in Honolulu on Friday and lost star forward Sophie Brunner to an apparent ankle injury.

Brunner was taken off the court in a wheelchair with her foot in an air cast with 4:27 left at the Rainbow Wahine Showdown and the game tied at 53.

Clemson's Francesca Tagliapietra is out for the season with a torn ACL. She had not played in any games this year, so this may have happened a while ago. Clemson game notes confirms the injury: http://www.clemsontigers.com/pdf9/4182308.pdf?SPSID=657843&SPID=103716&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=28500

Played 20 MPG last year as a freshman.

According to Jeff Walz following today's loss to Dayton. Louisville's Asia Durr will likely be a medical redshirt. She has yet to recover from pre-season abdominal surgery. Also, Briahanna Jackson is dealing with a knee injury. She played 25 minutes today but was pretty much ineffective.

I always dread to open this thread when I see a new entry. But obviously it's important factors for all these teams...and more importantly for the kids themselves.

I know everyone has different approaches with injuries but do you think Louisville should have been more patient? All offseason it was said Durr was about 75-80% or something and would be fine by the season but for her to now be redshirting makes me wonder if she came back too early. And if Jackson's knee was bad enough to where she couldn't do much of anything, was it worth playing her 25 minutes? Obviously you want to win a game but sometimes the short term positive of playing an injured player can lead to lingering issues.

Thought the same thing when I saw DeShields take some tough falls and limp a little. All off season it was said she was hurt, but now she will be playing big minutes. Is she really ready? Warlick even says sometimes that she still isn't 100%.

Lauren Douglas, a Sr. F for N'Western hasn't played in any games at this time. She averaged 10 ppg off the bench last season. Can't find any info as to why she isn't playing currently. Still listed on roster.

Creighton's Marissa Janning is out 6-8 weeks with a fractured fibula.

I'm wondering too. It's said that DD has shin splints, which, having had them myself at one time, I know are terribly painful. Niya Butts played with them (chronic) much of her career and was relegated to coming off the bench her final two years, but boy did she make things happen when she did! If DD has those, there isn't a whole lot they can do for them. She can either play with pain, play only when she feels good, come off the bench, or not play at all. Her options are pretty limited, and she's such a competitor I don't see the last option being one for her at all.

Tennessee is also dealing with injuries to Nia Moore (ribs hurt while weight training), Jaime Nared (broken left hand and still not cleared to play), Kortney Dunbar (ankle?) and now Jasmine Jones, who banged heads with Te'a Cooper yesterday and got the worst of it. I was hoping she "only" broke her nose or something, but with her concussion history.......

Kyvin Goodrin-Rogers will transfer from Kentucky. Former Louisville commit.

@jenheraldleader

Junior swing player Kyvin Goodin-Rogers is parting ways with UK. She becomes the fourth player to leave Kentucky’s program in six weeks. https://twitter.com/jenheraldleader/status/671453640717164545. Looks like she was the last player off the bench for UK so while it hurts depth, she wasn't really playing important minutes.

Father also played at Louisville, would Walz be interested?

Makayla Epps and Goodin-Rogers committed to Louisville as high school sophomores, then switched to Kentucky. One of the stories that I heard was that Walz had cooled on Goodin-Rogers so the two went to Kentucky as a package deal. Goodin-Rogers was not getting much playing time.

Goodwin-Rogers is coming off knee and wrist surgery. I'm not sure how she could expect a huge amount of PT. She was limping and on crutches right before the season started. They were trying to bring her along slowly. Wink

Dayum. NOT good.

Muff has some excellent talent on her bench--if anyone can get them to shine, she'll do it.

I'm so fond of Janning that this story from the Omaha World-Herald made me tear up.

And Durr played last night vs. Michigan State and had a great game, scoring 20 points in 23 minutes.

Is Walz trying to snow everybody?

She has been having pain issues and they were worried that something was wrong from the surgery. Tests indicated that everything was fine and the pain was a normal part of the recovery process. So she may be able to play through it.
