Is there anyone still around who follows hockey? Back in the day (before the 2008 elections fractured the boards and some old timers left) there were bunch of hockey fans, but when I ventured into the Mens Sports area here, only the NBA was among the recent topics.

The NHL playoffs have been INSANE. A lot of fun to watch (when it's not my team playing) and nerve-racking to watch (when it has been my team). Tonight is game 7 between the New York Rangers (my team) and the Tampa Bay Lightning at MSG. The Rangers are 7-0 in game 7s at MSG, so history is on their side, but the Lightning are a great team with a lot of potential scorers.

In the West, we have the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks also heading to a game 7.

I'd love to see the Rangers and Hawks play for the Stanley Cup. I'm sure the NHL and NBC would like to as well -- the Ducks and the Lightning are in two of the smallest, least popular markets while the Rangers and Chicago -- two Original 6 teams -- are among two of the best markets.

Fingers crossed for tonight and LET'S GO RANGERS!!!

It would really fucking help if the Rangers could score. Henrik can't shoulder offense AND defense.

So now I'm rooting for the Ducks, because these playoffs have been so epic that my great-aunt in San Diego is now a hockey fan.

To say that I'm heartbroken after last night would be an understatement. I was really hoping that the real NY Rangers were being held captive in an unused storage space in the bowels of MSG, and a group of look-a-like impostors took the ice in their stead as part of some nefarious plot. What else could explain how they could get shut out by a mediocre goalie in a must win game 7 on their home ice in front of 18,000 diehard fans?

I kind of want the Black Hawks to win -- bring the Cup to an Original 6 team -- but I think the Ducks have a better shot at beating the Lightning.

so did anyone predict a Blackhawks-Lightning Finals?? I was pretty sure we'd see one of either Anaheim or NY in the Finals.

They were never quite the President's Trophy same after Zuccarello went down. Finding out that McDonough was playing on a stress fracture that got aggravated to a full break explains a lot too. And Nash is known for being a playoff choker.

Now I'm rooting for Chicago, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if Cally and Stralman got a ring.

I like hockey and I can watch it. But it's like most sports for me now. I've seen so much women's basketball in person between collegiate and the WNBA, sports have become practically unwatchable on television, including the National Football League, ML Baseball and NASCAR. With television, a viewer is at the mercy of a director and commercialism which slows down the games and reduces their entertainment value. Even now, I'm following a baseball game and NASCAR on the internet and I find them more entertaining than watching them on TV because I can always switch out to a video or PC game while between breaks. Screw television. I'd rather be at the arenas in person.

Queenie, I think had Zucc been healthy, he'd have been able to get Nash in a better place as the playoffs went on -- he did improve over last year, but still, definitely not worth the millions he's made this year.

I think the C on McD's jersey stands for Cursed. Between his stick lifting the flap on Hank's mask so the puck would hit him in the neck, to sending a slapshot into the side of Zuccarello's head and giving him a skull fracture, to playing with his own stress fracture -- it was like he picked up an idol in a cave in Hawaii and kept it from Vincent Price.

And toad, I never would have expected Hawks/Lightning in the finals. I really thought this would be the Rangers year, so to say I 'm disappointed is a massive understatement. That we wouldn't even see the reigning champs -- the LA Kings -- in the playoffs, along with post-season regulars, the Boston Bruins, makes this a pretty remarkable season.

Glad the Hawks took game one. I wouldn't mind seeing Stralman get a ring, because I think it was a big mistake for the Rangers to have let him go. But Callahan was too greedy and I'd hate the idea of him hoisting the cup. Stamkos is a free agent this year, so I'd love for the Rangers to find some cap space to bring him in -- lose St. Louis' $5 mil and Nash's $7, we'd have the space. I hope Sather makes a move for him.
