Jason Flowers, the women's basketball head coach and his wife Tairia Flowers, the softball head coach, can now both say they are Big West Champions. Jason has coached the women's basketball team to 1 regular season Big West regular season title in 2014 and back to back Big West Tournament titles (2014, 2015). Tairia has coached the softball team to at least a share of the 2015 Big West title, and the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. The Softball team can clinch the title outright with 1 win or 1 Long Beach State loss this weekend.

Both coaches are great people and teachers. I'm glad to see them both doing well in there respective sports at Cal State Northridge. I think both have the ability to win many more Big West titles and become a force nationally.

Cal State Northridge won the Big West title outright and will travel to UCLA to open regionals against UCLA on Friday.

Cal State Northridge head coach Tairia Flowers (then Mims) was an All-American at UCLA, helped lead UCLA to the 2003 National Championship, and graduated with her name all over the UCLA record books, including leaving as 2nd in games played, homeruns and RBIs. She went on to play in the Olympics for Team USA and was a great softball player at UCLA and with Team USA. It seems fitting that her first NCAA Regional game as a head coach is against her former school where she became one of the best in the country.

Today Tairia Flowers was named Big West Coach of the Year, the 1st of her career. Congrats to her on a very well deserved honor.

Jason Flowers has named Big West Coach of the Year twice, 2011-2012 and 2013-2014.

CSUN Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jason Flowers and Softball Head Coach Tairia Flowers have become the ultimate CSUN athletics power couple, leading their teams to the top of the Big West Conference this past season — and berths in the NCAA tournament.
