Womens World Cup, 0-0 tie in extra time, marginal foul called on China and Canada makes the penalty kick for a win.

Gift for the host country?
Can you say "controversey"?
Or just business as usual for soccer?
An ending worthy of professional wrestling?

A billion Chinese are pretty pissed off right now.

As an aside, have to give Fox Sports some credit. In their Vancouver harborside studio they have five women announcers and commentators.

At least they're trying.

I'm not so familiar soccer rules but a elbow to the face is worth a PK right?
What I'm wondering is why Sinclair was the one to get the PK, when she wasn't the one that got fouled.

Anyway I'm happy with the result as a Canadian.

I can see why it was called, but I've seen worse not being called, officials don't often call fouls in the box unless it's really obvious and that wasn't really obvious. In my opinion it wasn't really a penalty kick worthy foul.

Teams/coaches can pick whoever they want to take the penalty kick, the only requirement is the person has to be in the match at the time the foul is called so they can't bring in a sub to take the penalty kick. A lot of teams have penalty kick specialist that take all or most of the penalty kicks during the match. Of course a penalty shootout at the end of a match is a little bit different.
