Yes, it's back for another year. Yeah, yeah, I know it doesn't mean much right now, but that's the fun of the early-season RPI. And so, with no further ado, here are some meaningless lists:

RPI top 10

1. Kentucky (5-1)
2. California (5-0)
3. Western Kentucky (4-2)
4. South Carolina (5-0)
5. Duke (5-0)
6. Arizona State (4-0)
7. Arkansas (5-0)
8. Southern Utah (1-0)
9. California Riverside (4-0)
10. Wisconsin Green Bay (4-1)

South Carolina, Duke and Kentucky were the only teams on this list to end last year in the RPI top 10. Riverside ended up at 305.

RPI bottom 10

349. Grand Canyon
348. Delaware State
347. Alabama State
346. New Mexico State
345. Weber State
344. North Carolina Central
343. Maryland Baltimore County
342. Illinois State
341. Portland State
340. Western Carolina

Maryland Baltimore County is the only team on this list that ended up in the bottom ten at the conclusion of last season, although Delaware State checked in at 323, which is more than close enough. Grand Canyon finished last year all the way up at 148.

Highest RPI for unranked teams:

3. Western Kentucky (4-2)
6. Arizona State (4-0)
7. Arkansas (5-0)
8. Southern Utah (1-0)
9. California Riverside (4-0)

Lowest RPIs for ranked teams (based on AP rankings):

235. Oregon State (ranked 19)
186. Oklahoma State (20)
138. DePaul (1Cool
116. Rutgers (21)
113. Michigan State (16)

Lowest RPIs for undefeated teams:

235. Oregon State (4-0)
162. Louisiana Lafayette (3-0)
145. Northwestern (4-0)
130. Northern Colorado (4-0)
116. Rutgers (5-0)

Highest RPIs for winless teams:

59. UCLA (0-4)
142. Stony Brook (0-4)
161. St. Peter's (0-3)
187. Wagner (0-4)
189. Colgate (0-5)

Coincidentally, Rutgers has defeated both Wagner and Colgate. It's also an interesting coincidence that 4 of the 5 teams on this list are within a radius of about 150 miles, with 3 of them within about 50 miles.

I'm working on something more substantial for next week. Stay tuned.

After UC Riverside went 6-23 last year, I have to give a shoutout to my former player, Annelise Ito, who had an ACL her senior year in high school, went to Diablo Valley College for one year, suffered through the 6-23 season, and now starts on the number nine RPI team in the country.

She hung tough, and it's paying off ...
