I didn't post the old rookies, but the most similar to Anna Cruz is Marta Fernandez. Nobody is within 10 miles of being similar to Dumerc.

| I always love reading these for a new season, but a question just occurred to me that I hadn't thought to ask before. Why are you comparing based on age? Wouldn't it make more sense to compare based on the number of years in the league? I can see making an exception for someone like Dumerc who has been playing professionally for years, but does one really expect, say, Bria Hartley and Shoni Shimmel to be all that different because one is 21 and the other is 22?

You wouldn't think so, but when Bill James studied baseball players he found that, on average, a 21 year old rookie would produce about 35% more hits and homers (and everything else) than a 22 year old rookie.
Granted there are any number of reasons why this might not hold true for basketball players or women or the WNBA. Still, it seems likely to me that the difference between one and the other will be more significant than a single year's worth of stats.
In the specific case of Hartley and Schimmel, who were born about four months apart, it may be splitting hairs. They just happen to be on opposite sides of the arbitrary cut off for seasonal age.

To be the same wouldn't a WNBA player have to be able to enter the league at any age (or any age over 17) like in baseball? A 21 year old MLB rookie got pulled up sooner than a 22 year old rookie. In the same way that the better you are in college basketball, the sooner you can get the NBA to draft you. Someone drafted after their freshman year is normally better than someone drafted as a senior.

Achonwa and Gray probably have the best comps, which says a lot about this draft.
Storm fans can't be happy to see LaToya Thomas as one of the top comps for their #1 pick.

Is it just me, or is this year's list more circular than usual? Like, Rookie A is similar to Rookie B, so Rookie B is similar to Rookie A?

| Given that it came down to the two of them for a roster spot, Cierra Burdick being on Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe's comp list makes an awful lot of sense.
