Anyone know the situation involved in breaking any ties between 2, 3 and 4? I guess NY would finish below SASS in the event of a tie due to SASS sweeping NY this year. Other than that not sure what would come next. I'd like a few extra shots at that top pick obviously.

Head-to-head record is the first tie-breaker. With New York, San Antonio, and Tulsa, the Lib are 1-3, the SASS are 4-2, and the Shock are 3-3. In that instance the Lib would get the #2. New York would also get the edge for draft position in 2-way ties against both San Antonio (head-to-head) and Tulsa (cross conference record).

I'm pretty sure they don't tie-break for lottery percentages. They add the ping-pong ball combinations together and then just split them.
So rather than:
Code: |
Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th
----------- ----- ----- ----- -----
Connecticut 44.20 31.55 18.10 6.15
New York 27.60 31.04 26.98 14.38
San Antonio 17.80 22.95 31.73 27.51
Tulsa 10.40 14.45 23.19 51.96 |
It would just be:
Code: |
Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th
----------- ----- ----- ----- -----
Connecticut 44.20 31.55 18.10 6.15
New York 18.60 22.82 27.30 31.28
San Antonio 18.60 22.82 27.30 31.28
Tulsa 18.60 22.82 27.30 31.28 |

True, but there are also the 2nd and 3rd rounds to consider.

True, but people tend to care more about their chances of 1/2/3/4 than whether they're getting 14 or 15 . |

Well in the long run maybe this season has helped NY, I think any of the most talked about talk 6 candidates would help NY (Ogwumike, Sims, Thomas, Gray, McBride or Dolson) so a lottery pick is really helpful. I think the most interesting (though possibly frustrating) spot for NY to land would be #2, assuming Ogwumike goes one I think the #2 pick is going to be a hard choice, obviously the college season can change that a lot but right now do we go with Thomas for our scoring and small forward needs or a PG, and if we do go PG which one, Sims is the more talked about but if she's healthy who is to say Gray doesn't outshine her. And if Gray is Bigger will that influence Bill's thought process. Or does it not matter because while this draft is good trading the pick for a decent known commodity is certainly in the cards as well. Well at least it will give Liberty fans something to talk about endlessly over the long off season.
And then we still have the #14 pick to obsess over as well, can't wait.

I agree. Right now, when I imagine NY's pick it's always Thomas or Gray. And that 14th pick could be a pretty good player because someone always slides unexpectedly. We just have to hope that Bill doesn't decide to be a genius again -- you know, like taking another college backup to force into a position she barely plays.

If SASS ends up with the #3 or #4 pick, I see them taking Dolson. If the SASS return healthy, they could be a very deep team.

How come the percentages for the top and bottom teams are slightly different between the two years? Did they change the maths very slightly? The middle two finishing tied doesn't seem like it should affect the percentage for the teams above and below them. |
