Spiders pull the upset 56-54!

I'm torn. A Richmond uspet is good for UVA, but I really like Temple.

Unbelievable. Crying or Very sad

caught a quick glimpse at a stat that showed (i think) dawn getting no points from her bench, while richmond's bench contributed 26!

Okay, I didn't see the game, but I looked at the box score. Who, if anybody, was guarding Mirna Mazic? And why did Stephanie Hicks and Shenita Landry get 29 minutes of PT when they weren't producing?

And who was guarding my girl Candace Dupree? If she had gotten her average, Temple would have won. Of course, same could be said of Bowens and Maddox. Richmond caught 'em napping, I guess.

Why is Temple ranked? Sure, they beat Rutgers and Georgia, which are both impressive wins, but they've lost to Richmond (RPI 166), George Washington (RPI 52), Saint Joseph's (RPI 6Cool and, uh, Stony Brook..

Temple's own RPI is 53 and they are in third place in the A10, two games out of first. That does NOT sound like the resume of a top 25 team to me.

And Tara Boothe is the best player in that league, not Dupree.

Dawn Staley is well loved, if somewhat overrated as a coach.

And Candice Dupree is a very nice college player, but at 6-2 I don't see how people on the WNBA board are saying she'll do much as a pro. There aren't any 6-2 centers playing in the W.

Nat Williams was a starting center last year, and did very nicely at 6'2. Of course Dupree is no Nat Williams.

Nat's volleyball background and 200+ pound frame helped.

Like I said, Dupree is no Nat Williams, who is one of my all-time faves.
