This is a unique link, just for Swifties, or persons who have some interest in music history perhaps. My thought is a lot of these songs will be covered after Swifty is dead.
My first thought is it should have been edited in chronological order, I tend to think in critical paths, but then that goes out the window, some I've seen and some I've not.
Perhaps the most significant point of the link is very few artists have the leverage to allow a link like this to exist. In most cases the networks win out, but not with Swifty, she controls her own shit, so you get this link.
18 live performances by Taylor Swift.

ooo I really like those. I like that style a lot.

I always think it's cool when singers "re-do" a rap song. I don't know much about rap (although I enjoy it) but I do know Eminem is a hell of a poet.

Chet Atkins is one of the best guitarists that ever lived, and most of you reading this don't have a clue who he was.
Why? Because he became a music executive, still is, a bad guy. Evil incarnate.

Added these two to my Utube folder. (posted on another thread)
The first is just Joplin, Summer Time, live, decent sound and video.
The second is just about the base solo, (around 1:00) as near as I can tell, it's from Crossroads guitar festival.
If anyone has similar solos or base jamming, would love to hear it.

check this guy doing the bass line of RAIN, at original speed. (The song was slowed when the vocals were laid down). PS- ear buds or real good speakers should be used:

I'm pretty sure the bass was also added after it was slowed down

Yeah, it's possible, or even probable, but, did you like the guy's take? He's got some nice chops, imo.
With Rain The Beatles played the rhythm track really fast so that when the tape was played back at normal speed everything would be much slower, changing the texture. If we'd recorded it at normal speed and then had to slow the tape down whenever we wanted to hear a playback it would have been much more work.
Geoff Emerick
The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions, Mark Lewisohn
The normal tape speed was 50 cycles per second, but the session it was recorded at 42 cycles. The backing track had drums and Lennon's distorted Gretsch Nashville guitar, and Lennon's lead vocals on another track. The fifth and final take was the only one to feature vocals.
"It is likely that McCartney also recorded a bass part on this day, but it was replaced on 16 April during a session that saw a range of further overdubs, including backwards vocals in the coda."

Johnny Cash was multi generation folk hero. An icon.
It's wierd but his best performance, the one that made him an icon, was Folsum Prison. Genius.
Well I found a documentary, dubbed in Swedish, thus yep, unless you speak Swedish, you'll miss something, I'm watching it as I write this, but trust me, it's good.

The documentary may be intellectual but it sucks:
This what we want to hear: (now that the tease is sweet)

Ok so maybe it ain't so easy to find that iconic performance, help please?
I know one thing, he debuted this song there, and that was the record.

He is actually reading the lyrics off a piece of paper.

I'm just adding items to the Folsum prison list:

My intention is not to start a political fight. But I wanted to post this, because I think this guy has a remarkable story. And he's one of two republicans (Meghan McCain being the other) that I like.
Not because he votes with Democrats 46% of the time. But because he doesn't consider party affiliation when voting. Despite the fact that I do disagree with him on a few fundamental things, I think our country would be in a much better place if more politicians behaved like him. (IE being willing to compromise, looking at a Bill by the merits, rational reasoning..)

Merc I'll listen to the stuff you posted, but please edit your post, this place is about music, good music can be political, but let the songs speak, please, edit your post, (cut the commentary out).
Thanks.
Vann
Eta:
Merc, as much as I relate and support Scott Brown, this is not the place to post that. Please edit, thanks again,
Vann

Merc, assuming you do as I ask, I'll post a long needed thread called, " it's not easy being conservative." |

Sorry Van, did not realize this thread was soley about music..as there are lots of other "youtube gold" things out there..granted, I never did post Darren Criss' amazing Harry Potter plays..and the long list of stand up comedians that no one never sees..
And I'll leave you with this video..
Adam Lambert Joined Queen for a few tour dates in Europe. The video quality on this is outstanding. Amazing what people can get at concerts now.
