35 year old Bird is 50/50, but 34 year old Whalen is a sure thing Confused

I don't see Whalen going to Rio. I would think that Team USA would want to take a couple of younger guards instead.

We're all wondering the same thing down here and it's a 40-minute flight!
Congrats to Team USA on its unprecedented success.

It's going to be that bad? Wow. It''s already changed dramatically anyway in terms of how expensive it is for Americans down there, hasn't it? Even without the Olympics.

You misspelled Odyssey Sims.

let's wait a few years and see how she does in the WNBA against better PGs. Right now Prahalis & Robinson are the future USA PGs.

In fact, it be very hard to predict the 2016 considering the amount of talent out there. From the 2012 squad I see(injury-free, of course) Parker, Fowles, Charles, Taurasi, Whalen, Augustus, McCoughtry & Moore all returning in 2016. Cash & Jones are out and Catchings & Bird are doubtful. Two replacements: Griner & N. Ogwumike. Replacing Catchings: Delle Donne. Replacing Bird: Prahalis or Robinson.

Hopefully she remembers to bring her shot to LA. IMO, she was awful in London.

I hope so, but Prahalis blew off Team USA to work with her OSU teammates before her senior year.

Robinson actually tried out for the team in 2011, so I can see her being there. Has Prahalis even played for a USA junior NT? Is she even in consideration? She's done well for herself this year, but I don't think she was better than Sims in college nor do I think she'll be better than Sims at the next level.

She should be proud. She earned the right to be there and came away with the ultiimate prize for the second time in her career.

Way to go Swin! Olympic champion! F the haters!

Sue Bird with the "for the land of the free..." for the win. By your third gold medal, you should know the words.

Samantha Prahalis played on the 2009 U19 World Championship team, she started all 9 games. She was also on the 2008 U18 FIBA America's U18 Championship For Women team.

Agreed, I'm happy for Swin, she earned her spot on the team, so what if she didn't play much during the Olympics she earned her spot and deserves her gold medal, just like everyone else on the team.

Congrats to the whole team!! Very Happy

It is too early to tell. We'll have to see how they are playing at the time.

I gave her the benefit of the doubt and decided it was a leftover V from "wave". Wink Hey, mouth position is the same. Confused Laughing

Glad we got to see the ceremony. Very proud of this team and the way they handled the whole thing.

Who goes to the WCs and how they handle that will go a long way to clarifying the Rio picture. There's been no real passing of the PG torch like they usually do, in order to set the young PGs up for success handling a team of stars on the international stage. It'll be interesting to see what USAB does. And how everyone's health holds up...

Yup. Those planning on coming to Rio had better start saving yesterday. Hotel rates are ridiculous, a result of not having enough hotels to begin with. Trying to stay outside the city and drive to events is unthinkable. But the atmosphere should be amazing regardless.
