Quotes from McKayla Maroney after the event final:

"I didn't deserve to win gold if I landed on my butt," Maroney said after settling for the silver medal in the vault final at North Greenwich Arena.

"It's more of shock," she said as she wiped away mascara. "I'm not disappointed about the silver. I'm disappointed about my performance."

"I don't want to blame it on anything other than I messed up," she said.

Completely lovely and adorable how delighted Beth Tweddle was to win any Olympic medal today, regardless of colour. It's the only competition she's never won a medal at, and even though the big step she had on landing probably cost her the gold (or at least the silver), she really didn't seem upset about that in the slightest. Nice way to (almost certainly) close out her career.

Gabby came in last on bars but I thought she handled it well. She did not cry about it and she spoke well of the winners and their routines. I love watching her but I (nor did she) expect her to win Gold. I thought maybe Silver, which she may have gotten without the mistakes.

There seemed to be something amiss with Gabby even before her routine. She just didn't seem to be herself. She says she was tired but I wonder if all the negative and nasty remarks that have been posted on other boards about her and the public outing that her mother filed for bankruptcy(which some media asked Gabby about) and the negative remarks about her hair have gotten to her. I hope not and I hope that she does well on beam finals. If she does not do well then I would wager to guess that the negative comments have messed with her mind.

Agreed, I'm happy for her to end her career with her first Olympic medal. As you mentioned it's unfortunate she took the step on her dismount, still it's great for her to be able to win her first Olympic medal and end her career in front of her home fans.

A beautiful floor excerise for Aly! Great job- Congrat's to her and Ponor had a great routine as well.

Team USA had a wonderful showing at these Olympics. Gabby has participated in 14 events and Aly in 12. A wonderful showing from both of them!

Overall the documentary wasn't what I was expecting, but other than the first part that focused on Kerri Strug I liked the interviews with the gymnast about the team finals, and I was a bit surprised to see Svetlana Khorkina do an interview. I liked it, but I wish they either did a little feature on all 7 or none at all, not just one gymnast with a little glimpse at a 2nd just because they trained in the same gym.

They just showed a full documentary, more complete than what was shown on primetime earlier this week. They interviewed everyone, but Dominique Dawes, perhaps she wasn't available for some reason because it seems like they did the interview at the 2011 American Cup. But in the documentary the highlighted each gymnasts in the video and at the end they gave little blurbs about what each gymnasts is doing now. It was much better and much more what I was hoping for, I wish this had shown this at prime time, but I can see why the edited because of time, although I think they edited the wrong things.
