Good energy and pace to this game at the start. France having success attacking the rim. A bit perplexed at Elhotova being back on the bench for the Czechs...

Gomis is an impressive scorer.

The Czechs aren't playing an especially inventive 2-3 zone, although it's stymied France and slowed the game. But the late triple from Gomis evens things back up heading into halftime...

Whoa, the Czechs go on a 10-0 run to open the second half.

Starting to remind me of the quarterfinals at the Worlds two years ago when Viteckova got ungodly hot against Australia...

I think she has 11 or 13 points in this quarter alone. I sort of lost track in all the excitement.

I will bitch slap anyone who says that Czech Republic defeating France would be an upset.

This is just terrific drama. Miyem has been a huge addition for France, helping to slow Viteckova a bit and bringing the offense none of their other wings could supply...

You won't be bitch-slapping me, then. I haven't fallen for the pro-France love that at least half the posters here are afflicted with. To me, they're a decent team whose record is the product of dumb luck and luck of the draw.

How could the Czechs not foul in that situation?

Bitchslap me all you want. IMO they are a better team then the Czech republic and Russia. But are not strong enough to make it USA very difficult if they would meet them in the final

A 30-point 4th quarter for France, including 12 from Miyem and 10 from Dumerc...

Maybe FIBA will catch up with the WNBA and start using replay for those situations

Exactly. Totally weird. They had Gruda with 10 seconds or more to play and she was the perfect one to foul. Dumb.

That was fun. I love the Olympics, but I am completely exhausted. And I need to be at the O2 in 12 hours to do it all again for the men's quarters!
