Veronica [Felibert] leads at 7 under, on the third hole, she's a rookie who is virtually unknown. But like all LPGA players, she has a resume, former USC player who I think has a team championship. But the odss of her shooting better than par at this point are not good. So you look at the board, at least 20-25 players will tee it up tomorrow with a chance to win. Last weeks 1st time winner, Lang, fired what I'm sure is an 8 under, course record 63 to finish at 6 under along with 5 others.
Ryan O'Toole and Katie Futcher are at 6 under. These are the two most fit players out there, Futcher is incredible. 100% rock solid muscle, can't hit a ball outta her shadow compared to O'Toole, the smaller petite, but rock hard long hitter.
Can't wait to see what happens but it looks like a 20 -30 player crap shoot tomorrow. What makes that great is players know that so they just play, they ignore the situation and often times that can produce some extraordinary golf.
There is plenty of golf left for a player to break away today but with so many players chasing you, not worth much. |

Well Felibert shot 5 under 66, 11 under, and now sits 4 shots ahead of Mika Miyazato and Inbee Park, there are 5 players at 6 under and 6 at 5 under, so all eyes will be on the rookie leader to see if she can finish this one off, she'll most likely have to shoot a few under to win, but you never know. The cut was +1 for 36 holes so the course is playing low scores.

Lang takes Pettersen to the cleaners
Saturday, June 30, 2012 Comments (0)
The ultra-competitive Suzann Pettersen might be a sucker for a side bet, but on Saturday at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, she ended up, well, just a sucker. Paired with an on-form Brittany Lang, who won her first LPGA Tour event last week at the Manulife LPGA Classic, Pettersen decided to make things interesting on the back nine in the sweltering heat.
Lang shot a second-round 8-under 63 in 99-degree temps in Rogers, Ark.
"Suzann was saying it was getting kind of boring out there, so she wanted to play a birdie game -- $20 per birdie," Lang explained after the round. Lang, who had shot one under par on the front, proceeded to make five birdies and an eagle in the next nine holes and coming home in 29. "At the end she told me she's not playing the money game ever again because she made three birdies and still lost $80," Lang said.

I remember playing a pick up game at Memorial Park one time, all four of us broke forty on the front from the tips. Someone suggested we play $1 skins on the back, double on birdies, triple on eagles, made 3 birdies and an eagle (9 skins), $27. You could buy a lot of beer at the 19th hole back then for 27 dollars
ETA: The bad news is I don't think I broke par, 39-34 I think. |

Ai Miyazato fired a 6 under 65, 13 under total, to win by a shot over Mika Miyazato and Athahara Munoz.
Rookie Veronica Felibert finished with a 1 over 73, 10 under total to finish T4, but earned her 90K +$ which brought her up to #53 on the money list whcih should be enough to move her to full status next year which she does not have now, the additional money should also help her get into mroe events the remainder of the year. While she didn't win she aquitted herself well and finished with the big check which is what matters most for a rookie in that situation.

Veronica Felibert had the Rolex Rankings Move of the Week moving up 470 spots to No. 253. Prior to this week’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G, Veronica Felibert had never shot a round in the 60’s on the LPGA Tour and only made one cut in five starts. To many people’s surprise, Felibert crawled her way to the top of the leaderboard during the first round with a 6-under-par 65 and followed it up on Saturday with a 5-under-par 66 to head into Sunday with the lead.
