Latta and Harding will be the X-Factors for each teams. Wouldnt mind seeing Larkins go off for 20 either. Go Tar Heels!

If Duke is able to overcome the full court press of the Tar Heels, then Duke wins at home infront of the sell out crowd. I think Lindsey Harding will be able to handle the ball against that pressure so I see a Duke win. Go Duke!

Duke is gonna win. Everyone's touting the praises of UNC, but their only victory against an "elite" team was against UConn in early December. I would be interested to see them play UConn now. Otoh, Duke has played two "elite" teams recently (MD and UT) and shellacked both of them.

Much has been made of Ivory Latta, and her quickness. She fast and athletic, but she's also small, and I don't think she has ever been known for making great decisions. Match up Harding against Latta in a chess match, and Harding wins hands down.

And if UT couldn't find an effective way to score against Duke's front line, what makes anybody think UNC will? Is Larkins so much better than Parker? Are Little and Atkinson so much better than Anosike and Fluker?

But UNC is good and they are athletic. It will take time to beat that down. I think UNC will give Duke a game in the first half- maybe even lead at the half. But by the time ten minutes is gone in the second half, the game will be swining Duke's way.

IMHO.

That will be the preseason picks, also. Laughing

Have you taken a close look at Texas? I know they're not all that this season, but '08 and '09 could be pretty good years for that club.

Yeah, UNC made an idiot of me- as well as Duke. I figured Duke would pull away at the ten minute mark, when they were up 12. Instead, they became conservative offensively, as UNC turned up the intensity.

Larkins should be POG.

North Carolina after the come from behind win are the last undefeated team standing. I don't expect them to remain undefeated up til March but who knows it's anybody's game. Cool

UNC's two toughest games -- MD and Duke -- are at home.

Almost as good as this one:

Come on now, pilight. That was very Admiral-esque on your part.
Congrats to UNC, but Latta annoys the heck outta me. She's my favorite to be the next Debbie Black. And that ain't a compliment.

Yeah, I thought of Texas in 2008. Their #1 recruits will be seniors then...but then Tennessee's CP class will be seniors then, also except for CP Laughing .

Judging from over the years, two more big rivalry games await UNC

NC State, a team looking to avenge the early-season defeat at the hand of the 'Heels and another Yow/Hatchell match-up.

@ Virginia, a team looking to pull the upset. Plus, Hatchell/Ryan hate each other. Wink

They can win all four, but we'll see. They took big steps tonight in proving to America that they're a national force.

Ivory Latta is a stone cold warrior and the heart and soul of Carolina. Did you hear the announcer say that she can squat 290 pounds in the weight room??? You gotta give her props for that alone. As for the cockiness, dislike her if you want but she deserves to talk a little smack after running into that steel wall named Mistie Williams. Ouch!!!
