The Sky would indeed have room to replace her while she was gone, but she's not on the preliminary Montenegran squad I saw anyway - they went with Anna De Forge instead.

A player like perhaps Julie Wojta?

I know that this issue has been discussed on this board before but I just want to say that I HATE the current WNBA roster rules. Hardcore fans pay for season tickets and cable bills to watch their favorite players play. When I watch the Dream play I want to see Sancho and Ericka play not the backup scrubs! When I watch the Storm play I want to see Lauren Jackson not Wauters. I am not saying Wauters is a bad player but Lauren is a one of a kind SUPERSTAR! Every season now good to great players miss a portion of the WNBA season because of prior commitments to their Euro teams. Something needs to done in the next CBA that will guarantee that the players fully commit to the W or just stay in Europe. How will the league grow if the superstar players are not playing? What would the NBA be like if it did not have superstars like Kobe, LeBron, or Rose? Confused

What would you suggest? Most of the players make more money there than here.

Pilight, I understand that most of the players make more money in Europe than in the W. That is an issue that needs to be addressed in the next CBA. The owners need to pay the ladies more money than what they are paying them now, especially the superstar players. I want the WNBA to offer a great product to the consumer. Creating and having superstar players is the foundation for the future of this league. Without them there is no future.

While if you paid them a fortune it would obviously make a difference, the people missing right now has nothing to do with Euro teams. They're missing because they want to prepare for the Olympics, and that takes precedence for those particular players. You can't skip part of the Euro season instead, because that's not when the training camps take place.

Richyy and Pilight, the only point that I am making is the hardcore fans want to watch the superstars play. I just feel that a point in the future will be reached where the viability of the league will be established on the foundation of the superstars of league. If the fans are consistently denied the ability to watch their favorite players play, then the interest in the league will wane.

I wonder if the WNBA would consider what Major League Soccer does, which is to allow a couple of exceptions to the salary cap. That allows MLS to sign some superstars who otherwise wouldn't play here.

One negative is that some teams would be able to afford the exceptions, and some wouldn't, but it would improve the quality of the overall product.

She is on the roster. De Forge will not be playing this summer. Coach expects her to join the team on June 4.

Ah, okay. She wasn't on the list that the FibaEurope article had. I should know by now to check LWB instead Wink.

Anyway, as I said, Chicago have room to temporarily replace her if they want to.

If Shay Murphy is going to miss ten to twelve games this season because of a prior committment then I hope the Sky would suspend her and sign Julie Wojta to replace her until she gets back from Europe.

Prince carrying Sky to new heights

Quote:
"Piph makes a difference, and she needs to play like this every night," Fowles said after the win over the Mystics. "It's her team, it's (guard Courtney Vandersloot's) team. They carry us. Without them we don't go so far.

"I mean, I can do so much, Swin (Cash) can do so much, but we need Piph to be on point every night. To have her step up the way she did in this game she grew up a lot, and I am so proud of her."
