This has got to be one of the most confusing threads on this board.

Admiral, why would a picture of Laurie Koehn explain why you are questioning Kendra Wecker?

Look to the left of this post. THAT is Kendra. Now why is it that you were questioning her, again?

So Admiral, spill. What is it about Wecker that surprises you? Come on, don't be afraid.

My guess is that Janel will go higher now, because Sandora and TCU has left the tourney early. More exposure for Janel.

Thoughts?

Well, if you're supposedly a star player, and you can't lead your team out of the first round, what does that say? Shocked

Cathrine Kraayeveld dropped 23 and 5 on her... Idea

That you're Dionnah Jackson?

Good one.

Seriously, I would still take Sandora over Janel. More upside, in my opinion. Janel didn't have three trees bugging her all game, with a lack of guard help.

I just don't know what to think about Sandora. I think my expectations were too high, but when I finally saw her play a couple times the end of the year, she didn't look as good as I was hoping. And the fact that C-USA has folded in the tournament makes me wonder more about the level of competition she's used to.

Still, you probably have to go with her for the upside. I guess. Right?

So what Admiral is saying is that Ohlde was a bad pick for the Lynx...???

Rolling Eyes

This thread is goofed up. The Mark McGwire picture is way out of place. If you're implying Wecker is on steroids then I dunno, but sheeesh.

Holy *&% that team is tall. I wish I could have seen that whole game. Oregon has the tallest team I have ever seen. They have 15 girls on their roster, and 10 are 6'2" and over.

Should be a good game today vs Baylor.

Rebecca Lobo and some guy was doing the coverage for the MN/ St Francis PA game, and they talked about Sandora VS Janel. Lobo said they were pretty equal, but went with Janel because of her incredible passing abilities.

Doesnt Lobo have family here? So she could be a little biased.

Lobo's husband, Steve Rushin, is from MN. However, others have offered similar assesment of the posts--McCarville's passing sets her apart.

That's what I noticed when I first saw her 2 years ago... Idea No doubt she'll be good.

Janel is 6 assists away from third on the Gophers' all-time list. Not bad for a big.

Janel also leads the team in all 5 big categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

Does anyone know of other players around the country who did the same this year (or in the past)? Dionnah Jackson was close, but finished just a little behind Rush in scoring.

The other night she became the leading shot blocker for the U of M.

I am so depressed this is her last game at Williams arena. I think I might have to self medicate to get through the night.

If she wins, her and the Gophs get to go to sunny Tempe. Perhaps she can leave some bags there, because she could be back there this summer playing for the Phoenix Mercury. I doubt it though, I think she will go 1 or 2 in the draft.

Not to knock McCarville, but what does it say about your team if one player leads in every statistical catagory?

What is anybody thinking about Cisti Greenwalt at this point? I think she is not strong enough for the W and will be foul prone without some work.

Cat Kraayeveld's stock went up for me. Irvin and Lyttle still have potential, but their teams didn't pull it out (UH just didn't show up...so much for South Houston run 'n gun versus old Eastern style half-court basketball.)

it says that your team would be pretty weak without you. It's less of a knock on McCarville than it is on the rest of the team.

It also says that you need to find a point guard, because no matter how good of a passer you are, you shouldn't lead the team in assists as a center/forward.

Thanks, hoops...you took the words right out of my mind regarding assists. Of course, she does have kind of a "bird's eye view" up there...but she could concentrate better on her part of the game inside the paint if she didn't wear so many hats.

Yeah, and the team should learn how to run an offense. And the guards should learn how to create their own shots, how to penetrate, how to make plays. And monkeys should learn how to fly out of my butt.Cool

But none of that is gonna happen this year. We have the team we have, and that means Janel doing everything. Will be very interesting to see what happens next year.
