I hope I DO NOT SEE HER THERE! I would rather listen to Stephanie White for hours than to listern to Carolyn Peck for one minute.

Someone will probably go in the first round where the entire panel will barely know who the hell she is, like with Alex Montgomery last year.

Or maybe they'll start talking about how the #6 pick will fit in alongside Penny Taylor in the upcoming season.

Mystics don't need a point guard as Matee Ajavon has that position covered.

1) Damn Iris Dan tease - I think she's a guard from Mali or one of those other European countries. I'm sure she will be excited to play this year in the best league in the world. From what I hear, she can play all five positions.

Vicki Baugh is a first round pick and should be taken by the Mystics if she's still on the board at #8.

Wait..that's your entry into "dumbest things C.Peck will say?" Has she entered the Betty Lennox world of talking about herself in the third person?

She'll say whoever drafts Lynetta Kizer will be getting the steal on the draft and that she's can become the next Crystal Langhorne.

Well, if the Mystics take Kizer, there really won't be any smart things anyone could say. "Kizer will join umpteen mediocre posts on the bench watching guards who can't bring the ball past half court." I mean no offense to Jasmine Thomas, whose best attributes have been thus far wasted by trying to make her into something she's not.

Thank you, Pilight for answering my question. No Shades, I will not use Peck's photo as my next avatar. I am searching for a photo of Maya Moore's buttocks for my next avatar photo. Laughing

I think Pam Ward won the best quote of the day when she said Mystics went from finishing first to skyrocketting to the bottom, where Lobo corrected her that she must of meant plummeting LOL

Peck was actually the most composed of the three. Lobo was unexpectedly tongue-tied at times, and Pam Ward struggled to find the right word. They had plenty of time to prepare, I don't know why the broadcast had to be so inept.

Isn't skyrocketing plummeting with extra vigor? As in with the jet assist of Sheila and Trudi?

Ward is always terrible.

Lobo was thrown off by the bizarre picks and the steady stream of nonsense from the other two anchors.

'Skyrocketing' gives to connotation of zooming UpWARDS, while plummeting lends the flaver of a DOWNWARD rush.

Ward is a play-by-play/host person whose only job is to move the broadcast along. She's actually got a fair amount of knowledge of the women's game compared to a Dave Pasch or Dave O'Brien type but to expect her to give analysis is just plain stupid. If she gives any it is to fill in the giant amount of dead-air between picks. It's about the same as Holly Rowe: you know what her role is and it is to help us get to know these draftees and ask not-too-tough questions of them.

Lawson and White's opinions would be interesting but you simply cannot have them analyzing potential teammates or opponents: conflict of interest. And there really are no other analysts fully on the ESPN payroll to throw at the telecast.

What I would love to know is why all three of them seem like they are struggling through the twists-and-turns of a live and dynamic broadcast when the draftees are all there under their control to have interviews on ESPN's schedule. Also, the draft is more than a few picks ahead by the time any one person gets called and the whole pace of the event is completely controlled. The presentation should be polished and seamless. Instead, it feels like there is no prep, no rehearsal and no contingency planning for players that are not in the audience in the first round. Maybe they think they are doing the WNBA a favor by giving them airtime but all it says to me is "we are going through the motions but really don't care enough to put much time and effort into it."

I agree entirely that they should be better prepared. We need the WBB equivalent of Mel Kiper or Dick Vitale, who can be annoying but undeniably know the sport they love and do the necessary homework to handle a broadcast of this sort.

I agree and I'm sure it was just a misuse of terms on her part. However accidental, however, I think it is an apt description of the speed with which their fortunes changed. Especially given how the North Korean missile/satellite orbiter skyrocketed into the ocean recently. Cool

I would like to see the telecast be given to younger and hungrier folks. The always-prepared Mowins, Capuano, Waner and Weisbrod seemed to do a great job when talking about the NCAA tournament and they sound like they've spent days doing research. I could see Waner and Weisbrod having the work ethic to do that homework and even take interest in the international basketball scene.
