aww, I've never seen that. Lauren has such a beautiful tone to her voice, but she always appeared to me to be not very confident during Idol. She actually had, IMO, the best audition ever on that show. Particularly when she sang with Steven. (She was my early favorite, and then Haley kicked her out...a lot of talent on last year's season. ) Not bad for, at the time, the youngest to ever make it to the top 24 (and beyond) ever.

Yea it's interesting though, but since Idle she had a top 20 single, a top five album, she has performed on all the late night shows, and at the White House. But I think her biggest thrill was probably performing with Martina McBride on the main stage at CMA Fest. Anyway.

She is now touring with Jason Aldean which I think is a sold out arena tour. Here she is singing the Kelly Clarkson part.

Not bad for a 17 year old kid. That's a career for most artists.

If you love country music, or if you want to know what it is, this a pretty darn good slice of it, both the old and the new. Country music is basically about the songs, words and themes. You can strip it down to the raw, and the story, the song either makes it or it doesn't.
PBS, no commercials, no BS, no prattling on and no politics, just country music for an hour. One of the most enjoyable music hours I've spent in awhile.
OK, it ain't utube.

ooo, she sings that beautifully, actually I think I like it better with Lauren than with Kelly. I think on a technical level, Carrie has a better voice than Lauren, but Lauren has such a gorgeous tone to her voice, when she can learn to emote a song half as well as Taylor Swift does Lauren will be pretty awesome.
btw: I'm sure it was her biggest thrill. Martina (Well, along with Carrie) is her idol.
I posted the "I told You So" video with Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery about a year ago, and said you'd probably be hearing a lot about them if you are country fan..I told you so
I like this girl a lot too, she's only 16 apparently. Unfortunately, as cool as her voice sounds, you can tell she's straining, and it'll probably be completely ruined by the time she's 35.

There is a reason why I keep harping this.
I need to set this up, this was recorded in a high school class room. Note no apparent stage mics. Apparently this eclectic group of artists, in HS, started this thing where they invite real artists to their school, and some of them come!
Considering the venue, Utube, blah blah, the sound is incredible, if you have time, listen to all four parts.

I thought this was the best Swift vocal I've heard from her.
http://youtu.be/lJyyx1Vm9CQ
I'm also incredibly impressed with this song. It's very grown up. Swift was going to have to become more adult eventually, and stop singing about fairy tales and bullies.
And instead of a "sexy" song to become more adult, she comes out with a mature, enchanting, beautiful song. (Which goes well with the movie that she wrote it for)

Well, if you listen to the lyrics of Mean, she says she can't sing (she's taking vocal lessons I think}. Sold more records than anyone in the last few years, taking frigg'n, vocal lessons, she needs em.
I think Joan Rivers said, something like, every thing this bitch does turns to gold!
Hey check this one out.
Just finished listening to this one, hang in there till the end, one of the best country vocalists and guitarists in country history:

I'm a huge fan of Swifty, more the maturity and business end at this point, blah.
This night was all about The Civil Wars at The Ryman, and Swifty handled it so classy, beyond classy. She can't claim first dibs on The Civil Wars, that honor goes to:
_______
Adele. She picked em before Swifty ever heard of em, I imagine.

In case you think this is some niche song, check this out, a miniscule cover song:

It's a Taylor Swift song, how could it be niche
I expect it to be huge though, because not only is it Taylor, but it's also the Hunger Games theme song. And that movie will probably be huge.

Kitty Wells would be proud. If this is the biggest moment in these gals lives, it was good enough.
Jane Dear Girls, Kitty Wells, "It wasn''t God who made honky tonk angels"
In case you missed it, this is what feminism was before the fem nazis highjacked it.

What makes country music great, is the reality of it. In the past, way back when, you write a song and folks, they relate. Fast forward, folks ain't quite as stupid as it may seem, they tend to learn from 40-60 years of songs highlighting stupidity. Go figure.
That said, here is a song, classic, that covers divorce, yea, half the population experiences it, but yet un touched.
This is a GREAT performance:

Not sure how familiar you are with the Hunger Games. But in the second book, the two main characters watch a video of their mentor winning the Games. (Woody Harelson's character). It's just a little sidenote in the story. (Sort of..there's a detail that becomes important in the book, but that's irrelevant here.) Anyway, this fan made video of "the Games" is excellent.
BTW: Van, you might really like the movie. As it can certainly be interpreted as an attack on big government.

I'm not familiar with any of it. Like I said, I'll enjoy it in about 2014. I'm really just enjoying a good piece of music here.

All I can say, is the truth. I just talked my daughter, in college, I'm like her worst friend, but I had to ask, how are you? She replied, great dad , I replied bullshit.
I win, apparently some guy fucked her around, I told her the truth, do the math.
This is the hard part, after you say goodbye, what next? Apparently, it is this,

I can live with that. |

Came across this act called country sisters:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZvpHwoQfqk&feature=related
The appeal is obvious, but once I dug a little deeper, I found that they are one of the best country "cover" bands in the world. The lead guitar is pretty good and the fiddle player is one of the best in the world |
