This is part 3 of an amazing interview w/KK. It's political.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS6wlPgb4Dw&feature=related
You lefties here at area 51 could learn something from this. Take notes.
What KK says here could be construed as radical. But THE WAY HE SAYS IT, is not anywhere close to offensive. I respect this man so much, he has lived a ridiculous extraordinary life, but yet he understands perspective, he is the same guy that had a Rhode Scholarship and degree from Oxford that then took a job in Nashville as a janitor, for over a year. Think about that?

Because I'm as bad with Haley as you are with Taylor. God this girl..she can sound like Ella on one song, and then belt a rock anthem in another, and then turn around and sing Blue better than anyone I've heard other than Leann. And sound authentic in every genre. Incredible vocal control.

The ten year old was pretty good. I usually get a kick out of children's voices. It's really amazing how some people just come out being able to sing like that..with no training or anything.
This is one of the best music videos I've seen in a while..I can't say why...it just is..haha

Swifty and The Civil Wars, live in Nashville at the Ryman. Safe and Sound.
My gaydar is nonexistent, but that girl is macking on Swifty in my eyes. And if so, nobody would do that on stage impromptu with a superstar, would they?

OK, so the above may be spot on or completely off. I know that gal with the Civil Wars is amazing, and expressive, to say the least. But that is not the momentous point.
This is.

400K hits on a cover of a song that has been out a month. What ever you want to say about Swifty, people don't cover songs they don't like. And they sure as hell don't watch covers of songs they don't like...

Interesting is a good word for it. Before I archived it, I listened to the sound, with my eyes closed, at least 3 times. I think her voice has a certain richness, and texture. Technically I suppose it's raw, but I sense there is amazing power there too.
It's not like I listen to covers all day, but this caught me, more so than the one linked above. And with Swifty, it would take days, just to listen to all the covers. not. |
Oh good grief, I think I sorta missed the whole point of this.
The Civil Wars. They are frigg'n awesome. Awesome.

Van and Paul Krugman in complete agreement on something. End times, indeed...

If you want to sample their music they offer a live set of free downloads here. No catch, no e-mail required. They seem to be following the Norah Jones model to a degree. They don't want a record label right now and they play theater size venues.

Tag: Produced. This is not a live video, if you study closely it becomes apparent that the audio is overlaid against the video. Not that it's bad, but get real, this is a "produced" video.

I find this piece pretty interesting. When two singers duet, they inevitably look at each to synchronize.
These two guitarists hardly even look at each other. I suppose keeping perfect time, perfect math, is somehow innate.

It'll be on tv on tuesday, but this has been on repeat for me..

This was also a great moment. Christina's idol is Etta, and Etta adored her, so I'm glad she was picked. Once again, as amazing as Christina's voice is, it would be nice if just once, she remembered that less can be more. (Why I love Haley. It took her two months at 20 years old to figure out what Christina never did.)
But you could just really feel her emotion here.

What I was thinking, when I saw this, Karen Carpenter played drums. When is the last time you saw a girl playing drums on national TV? I can tell you, It was Karen Carpenter.
